Fats are lipid substances derived from plants. There are a variety of oilseeds; the following is a short commentary of a few of them. Soy is a legume produced primarily in the many places. Interestingly, it owns all eight amino acids essential for human health. Cottonseed used to produce edible oil, animal feed components, and other industrial and consumer products would be the seed of the cotton plant. The oil is extracted using a solvent extraction method from the kernel. The US is among the world's top producers, along with China, India and Pakistan. Peanuts are beans high in protein, oil and fiber. Peanuts are used in food products, but over half of the world's production of peanuts are crushed for olive oil. The oil from the seeds of the sunflower contains more vitamin E than any other vegetable oil. Most sunflower oil is used in food products. The US is a big producer of sunflowers, but they are grown as crops. The oils are extracted from the various oilseeds by the process of an oil press or an oil screw press. An oil seed press works by putting the seeds under pressure while being conveyed through a tapered chamber. Because of the compression and the temperature created by the seed oil press procedure, oil is expelled, while the solid material is shunted away. A process known as transesterification is oils and fats are converted to biodiesel. Biodiesel is a methyl fuel made from oil or fat. It's a renewable fuel which can be used with little or no modification in diesel engines. Alcohol is combined with a catalyst that breaks the material also referred to as biodiesel, and glycerin a biodiesel co-product. The advantages of biodiesel over petroleum diesel are several. The most obvious advantage is that it's derived from renewable sources, unlike the Earth petroleum. Further, biodiesel is biodegradable and non-toxic. It burns cleaner, with studies demonstrating the combustion of biodiesel emitting 40-60 percent less greenhouse gas. Adding biodiesel reduces the wear on engine parts, prolonging their life because the biodiesel component makes the fuel more lubricating. The biodiesel industry is not as established in the US as in Europe. But increasing interest in non-fossil fuels is forcing businesses and individuals to produce biodiesel fuel, with the result of increasing production. It cannot be turned without extracting the oil. This is achieved by using high-pressure presses. These presses can be driven or may be a screw press. The canola seed is put in the press. The compression process squeezes the oil from the seed. A variety of styles and sizes of oilseed presses are available. The beginning of bio diesel often starts at the farm. Research is revealing crops such as canola is proving to be the best choice regarding yield and availability to make the energy source.
